Rice Water for Weight Loss
If you are on Tik Tok (I am not), you may have seen or watched a video on how the water used when boiling rice is being touted as a weight loss tonic. The call it ‘Ricezempic’
'Ricezempic' Is The Latest TikTok Hack For Weight Loss, But Does It Work? : ScienceAlert
It may or may not work, but the pretense behind this hack, is that the water which contains the resistant starch of the rice will make you feel more full and hence not eat as much. Similar to what taking Ozempic will do. Although, there is some science backing resistant starch for other gut health reasons.
Kelce Brothers Promote New Cereal
This one really got my blood boiling…
Travis, Jason Kelce team up with General Mills for new cereal mix (usatoday.com)
What do you get when you have celebrity athletes who are idolized by children and teens alike promote a cereal high in sugar and other chemical food additives? You get a generation of kids who are pre-diabetic or diabetic and have other health issues.
I know that may be a little drastic but stats are showing that 50% of American teens are already pre-diabetic or diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. And that is no help to foods like this.
Where are the athletes promoting eating meat, vegetables and fruit?
Study Shows Red Meat linked to Type 2 Diabetes
Well, this study made me LOL!
New study shows link between red meats, type 2 diabetes | CTV News
There are 2 points stated in this article as to why this study is complete garbage. First, this was an observational study and it clearly states in the study and in the article that researchers can not conclude that meat was the direct cause of diabetes. Second, the last time I checked the medical diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes, it was a disease of chronically high blood sugar. Red meat and processed meats contain no sugar naturally. Hmmm..This is classic example of clickbait and why we need to read beyond the headline.
And finally for this month, we have some good news. Blowing the whistle on Big, Food, Big Pharma and Big Ag. These three industries are currently big players in creating chronic health issues of American and finally people are calling them out. If you have not listened to the podcast with Dr. Casey Means and her brother Calley Means (author and co-author of the book Good Energy) on Tucker Carlson, this one is a must. I have the link below but you can also search it up on Spotify. Would love to hear your thoughts on this one.

I can’t wait to see what headlines come next month…

I suspect the meat one is probably people that eat a lot of UPF, and stuff like heavy meat pizzas which are also high in carbs (not like a classic Italian one). Those who consume such items on a regular basis will more likely than not snack and eat on high carb and high fat (ultra)processed food which has been linked to T2D. Wonder when these clickbait titles will stop when it comes to healthcare!
