I have been taking a five hour energy (minimum once a day, about 30 percent of the time twice a day) since I was 18. I am now 35. I am addicted to them. I hate coffee and feel nothing from it. Can you please recommend a healthy alternative for a “boost of energy” that isn’t a five hour. Thanks so much

Hi Steph. Things that I can recommend in exchange for the 5 hour energy would be..Green tea or matcha tea as this also have some caffeine which is what you are craving. Taking a B-vitamin complex with B12. Increase your water intake. I would slowly decrease the amount you are drinking and exchange for the green tea or matcha. Going off it cold turkey will most likely lead to headaches and just overall feeling blah..alternate days for the first week and then eliminate it. Hope this helps.

I just stayyyy away from them! I did try them once when I was studying and needed to stay up - got the niacin flush from it. And the sugar content - nope. I've learned much better energy tips over the years!

It seems crazy when you go into a gas station or convenience store and look at the entire cooler full of this stuff! The thing about energy drinks is that they are drugs. Drugs borrow from your future, like a loan that you have to pay back later.

I had a Redbull once and my heart started racing. My chest felt funny, so I decided they weren't for me.

So true. And being that they are unregulated is a safety issue. If a Red Bull can do that to your heart rate imagine what is does to a young teen. My son had a team mate on his hockey team drink one before a game and collapsed on the ice. 😳. They were 17 at the time.
