This has been a longtime debate on whether adding fluoride to our water system is healthful or harmful. And with the topic being discussed more lately, I wanted to get some more information on it. In the United States, removing fluoride from the water supply is one of the things the new Health and Human Services secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr has placed on his mandate list.

In Canada, and more specifically, Calgary Alberta, this was also a debated topic as fluoride, which was removed from their water system in 2011, was recently added back in March 2025.

The public has been sold the idea that we NEED fluoride in our water to help our dental health so that teeth are not decaying (cavities) and overall better gum and mouth health. But is that really the case? Is there more harm to our overall health than good when ingesting this chemical fluoride? If it isn’t in our water supply are teeth falling out at an alarming rate? Does the food we eat play more of a role in our dental health?
