Here is my roundup of newsworthy items that came up this month in the nutrition, health and wellness universe.
The Health of our Nation is in the Spotlight
On September 25th, Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin rounded up a panel of health and wellness experts for a roundtable discussion on the declining health of our population. This mainly pertained to the United States but can also be extrapolated to Canadian health statistics as well.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Dr. Casey Means, Calley Means, D.r Marty Makary, Jillian Michaels, and Courtney Swan, just to name a few were on hand to highlight the changes to overall health due to changes in agriculture, food processing and healthcare policies. It is finally time for some more prominent people to speak up on all the things practitioners in the functional, holistic field have been saying for years. Our society is getting sicker and we need to get to the root of the cause.
This is the first time a panel this large has come together to discuss our failing health.

Move over Lunchables, There is a New Sherif in Town
Brought to you from YouTube personalities, Logan Paul, Mr. Beast and KSI, this product is said to be the healthier version of the all popular Lunchables. Of course marketed to kids, these products have ingredients listing as long as my arm. Pizza, nachos and meat/cracker options that come with a chocolate bar treat and a PRIME energy drink. Once again, where are the celebrities promoting eating whole foods, meat, fruit and vegetables.
Big Food purchases another Clean Food Product
This has been a big discussion on social media channels as of late. Siete Foods was just recently purchased for 1.2B by PepsiCo. Siete Foods is a family owned food company from Austin Texas that produces Mexican - American foods that makes high quality, grain free products without the use of seed oils. The concern is that when big food companies come and buy up these smaller companies that use clean ingredients, that the quality changes. And most likely they will in the long run. It just makes sense for big companies to do that when it comes to cost and supply chain procurement. But who knows.
It is sad really, but understandable in the world of business.
Its GATORWINE Time!!!
Have your wine and electrolytes too! The new viral hangover cure. I am not sure that this is a trend that will catch on but when one is in college and drinking cheap Chardonnay, maybe the addition of Gatorade will provide some benefit. Not sure how this will go in a fuller bodied red wine…I will take a pass 🤢
Until next month’s news…

Gator wine makes me think…oh goodness the stuff I drank in college 😂
Well if you try it, you will have to report back.
