Treatment Update:
Why did we choose to try NAD+ Therapy? About 4 months ago, my mom, who is 76, came home from a long month of travel and got sick with a cold virus. It really knocked her down most likely because of the stresses of the travel tour that she took and some other stresses that met her when she returned home. I believe that her body’s immune system was at a low point that triggered an arthritic flare up. It effected her hands. They were swollen, painful and she was really unable to do anything. This was effecting her for about 4 months. Luckily, I went back for a visit this summer and become her health advocate as her MD really had no treatment for her. With some knowledge of how inflammation works in the body, I searched out a practitioner in her area that could do some vitamin injections. Know that these injections are beneficial in the short term. She was need of an immune boost and something that could help her heal, metabolically.
That’s where NAD+ came into the picture. (read my NAD+ post to learn why). The health practitioner assessed my mom and suggested 4 injections, once a week with an immune blend (vitamin C, Zinc and glutathione) and the NAD+.
After the first treatment the swelling in my mom’s hands went down within hours. Positive results. The left hand was better then the right and she could make a fist. After the 4 treatments, she had less swelling, no pain and more movement, and could make a fist with both hands. So right now, with diet changes and these treatments, she is trending in the right direction. Now that the initial swelling is down , she can work on regaining some strength in her hands so that she can get back to her daily routine. She continues to eliminate sugars from her diet and is eating a high protein diet.
We know that arthritis is a inflammatory metabolic disorder and we have some work to do. But my mom and I are happy with her progress in managing the situation without the addition of pharmaceuticals.
**On a side note. She did also go see a physiotherapist who specializes in hands, and he told her that her arthritis was so bad that he did not have any help for her. This statement made me so mad. There is never nothing someone can’t do.! He is a physio..atleast give her some hand exercise to try. This is where I went to YouTube and gave her some exercises**
So I know this is anecdotal and might not be indicative of everyone who tries this solution. And is not medical advice.
But is is a reminder to keep an open mind and know that our bodies are able to heal themselves when given the right tools. Research. Ask questions.
We need to realize that it had taken years to get to this point of inflammation, it just doesn’t change over night. Be patient
